Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi all.

I have recently acquired this nice little laptop and am keen to see if I can upgrade it to Windows 11.  Running TPM.msc tells me it is version 1.2, not 2.0, so I would like to know if theTPM's firmware can be upgraded to the required 2.0 and if so how it should be done. The TPM is soldered to the motherboard, apparently, so a plug-in module from Ebay is unlikely to be the answer.

I have tried downloading various upgrade packages but they refuse to work, so I wonder if forum members have any ideas or solutions.

Thanks for thinking about my issue.

Hi:

Your notebook's TPM cannot be upgraded to 2.0, and the processor it has is also not supported to get the in-place upgrade to W11 via Windows Update.

Intel processors need to be 8th gen core or newer.

You can install W11 on your PC if you are interested, by reading the info at the link below...

Thanks for your help, Paul. Sounds like a CPU upgrade will be expensive. Probably  best to keep the laptop going until Win 10 support ceases and then think about getting a replacement laptop. Cheers.

You're very welcome.

There aren't any supported motherboards for your notebook with Intel 8th gen core processors.

The oldest Elitebook 840 that is fully qualified to run W11 is the Elitebook 840 G5.
