The Mystery of Two Motherboards: An Unexpected Twist
From the moment of purchase, one of the laptops had an issue with sound. However, the laptop itself, especially its touchscreen, suited our needs perfectly, so we didn’t rush to take drastic measures (as the owner said).
After much consideration, we decided to conduct an experiment: swapping the motherboards between two identical laptops. After the swap, we completely reinstalled Windows, and—miraculously—the sound finally started working! But our joy was short-lived: the touchscreen stopped responding.
It seemed like a simple driver issue, but then came the real disappointment. The official website does not provide drivers for the touchscreen on this model. Additionally, the Synaptics driver for the fingerprint scanner won’t install, the 4G modem driver doesn’t work, and even after installing all the available drivers from the official site, many devices remain unrecognized.
How is this possible? Why would the manufacturer be so careless with premium-class laptops? And most importantly—what should we do about the unresponsive touchscreen?
But the strangest part of this story is that the motherboard we installed into the “donor” laptop suddenly started producing sound. However, at one point, the sound disappeared—only to come back again.
So now, I’m left wondering: what will HP say about this? Because after this experience, I am completely disappointed in their products…
