Elitebook 8740w
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello there

I bought used Elitebook 8740w. It has some problems with turning on. When I tried to turn it on, fans and drive started but display was black. I had to try that five or more times to successfully turn on. After year of using laptop turned off and I can't to turn it on. When I pressed button to turn on Power Led blinked 8-short times after that nothink.

any ideas? thanks

Problems like this are why I advise folks NOT to buy used laptops -- because ANYTHING could have been done to them.  For example, if this laptop had been dropped or otherwise hit against something, that could have introduced micro-cracks into the tracings on the system board.  Over time, with changes in heat and cold, those tracings could have widened to the point of it NOW, being unusable.

There is no easy or convenient way to determine the current hardware state.  You would have to pay someone a LOT to take the laptop apart and go over the surface to examine it for any faults -- and that is going to cost you a lot more than simply replacing it.
