Envy 13 ad107tx
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop is Envy 13 ad107tx, with the 8th i7 processor, Intel SSD, Synaptics touchpad. When updated from 1803 to 1809, multitouch gesture operations failed. Only pointer movement and one-click are still available(driver version 19.5.10.75). After then, I updated the touchpad driver to the latest version (19.5.35.19). However, it is totally out of work now. I reinstalled the touchpad driver many time on several different versions, still not working. It makes me crazy. How should I solve this problem?

Welcome to HP forums, I see that you are getting issues with the touchpad on the printer.

First, restart the computer and tap on F10 during restart, once on BIOS screen, move the mouse cursor around to check if it works normally,

If it does, it would confirm a software issue and you follow the below steps if it doesn't work on its a hardware failure and I would suggest a touchpad replacement.

I recommend you to uninstall any generic synaptic drivers showing up for the touchpad (if available) under hidden devices from the device manager:

  • Click Start, point to All Programs, point to Accessories, and then click Command Prompt.

  • At a command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

set devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1

  • Type the following command a command prompt, and then press ENTER:

start devmgmt.msc

  • Troubleshoot the devices and drivers in Device Manager.
NOTE: Click Show hidden devices on the View menu in Device Manager before you can see devices that are not connected to the computer.

  • When you finish troubleshooting, close Device Manager.

  • Type exit at the command prompt.

Note that when you close the command prompt window, Window clears the devmgr_show_nonpresent_devices=1 variable that you set in step 2 and prevents ghosted devices from being displayed when you click Show hidden devices.

And then download a new version of the synaptic drivers using this link: Click here

Let me know how it goes.

To thank me for my efforts to help you, please mark my post as an accepted solution so that it benefits several others.

Cheers.

The first thing to check is if your laptop has the Windows function key that enables/disables the touchpad. The Windows 10 Update may disable your trackpad scrolling function.

The following combinations are some common function keys that enables/disables the touchpad in Windows 10: Fn + F5 / Fn + F6 / Fn + F9 / Fn + F3. But a lot of HP touchpads have an area at the top left of the pad which when double-tapped will toggle the touchpad On/Off.

If your laptop doesn't feature a touchscreen display, you may revive unresponsive touchpad by modifying touchpad settings.

  • Follow the path: Start button > Settings > Devices > Mouse & touchpad option > Additional mouse options.
  • Then the Mouse Properties window will open. Go to the tab that names your laptop's touchpad, usually named the brand + touchpad model, such as Dell Touchpad. If you don’t see such a tab, turn to a tab labeled Device Settings where you can find your touchpad listed under Devices.
  • Click on the touchpad to select it, and then click the Enable button.

Some people have encountered other problem after Windows 10 update, including no sound after Windows 10 update, etc.

Hope this is helpful.
