Hi,

my HP Envy x360 laptop won’t turn on anymore. It also doesn’t seem to charge. When I plug in the charger, the charging light only blinks briefly once and then turns off.

I already tested the charging cable on another laptop and it works fine, so the cable is not the issue.

Does anyone know what could be causing this or what I can try next?

Thank you.

Hi @Jamie5636,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

I understand your HP ENVY x360 laptop not turning on and not charging. Let’s go through a few checks.

Perform a Hard Reset

  • Disconnect the charger from the laptop.
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the charger to the laptop.
  • Press the Power button once to start the laptop.
  • Check if the charging light stays on.

Verify Power Source

  • Plug the charger directly into a wall outlet.
  • Avoid using extension cords or power strips.
  • Confirm the charger connector is fully inserted.
  • Check for debris in the charging port.
  • Try another compatible HP charger if available.

Check Charging Indicator Behavior

  • Connect the charger to the laptop.
  • Observe the charging LED for at least 10 seconds.
  • Look for steady white or amber light.
  • Note whether the light blinks repeatedly or turns off.
  • Try powering on the laptop again.

Test with External Display Activity

  • Connect the charger to the laptop.
  • Press the Power button once.
  • Listen for fan noise or keyboard backlight activity.
  • Watch for Caps Lock or Power LED blinking patterns.
  • Wait 30 seconds to confirm no startup response.

Attempt BIOS Recovery

  • Connect the charger to the laptop.
  • Press and hold Windows + B.
  • While holding the keys, press and hold the Power button for 3 seconds.
  • Release the Power button but keep holding Windows + B for 10 seconds.
  • Check for BIOS recovery screen or system activity.

I hope this helps.
