Envy laptop
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Have raised the issue before where all the files ,( docs, pictures, outlook, etc All files ! and programmes were deleted following an update

Any new files or downloads created and automatically delete whenever there is a software update.

updates deletes all files

Any ideas if I can resolve the issues ? Or time to put in the bin.

thanks in advance

While this should not be happening on every Windows Update, this has been a known issue with SOME of them -- and MS does not seem to be in any hurry to fix it.  The issue is related to account permissions, and since most folks store their files in the default location under C:\Users\<username>\Documents  since those folders are designed to be HIDDEN from other users, any security glitch will suddenly hide YOUR folders, giving the impression they are gone, when they are not.

If you only have a C: drive, then my suggestion would be to create a new folder, call it MyFiles in C: and copy all your stuff there.

Since that folders is NOT under the "users" section, it should be unaffected by future updates.

Good Luck
