Envy 360

This morning my Envy won’t turn on. Black screen. The power will light up but no fan, no screen. Nothing. Warranty expired last week. I tried to call for support but, since the warranty is expired, I couldn’t get through to a person. I took it to The Geek Squad and he couldn’t find a problem and they suggested calling hp.

@Erin17

Did the Geek Squad even attempt to run diagnostics on it? NO?  Won't comment further on my opinions of the quality of tech support provided by the Geek Squad -- as that would get me in trouble.

You already tried calling HP and in the US, those options you exercised are the only ones available.

So, I would suggest following the directions below to run diagnostics yourself.  At least that way, when you take the laptop to a Reputable repair shop, you will have some useful information to provide them.

To determine the cause with hardware failures, you have to be able run diagnostics. We have no way of accessing your PC from here, so we can not do that for you. You have to do it yourself.

You do this by pressing the Esc key repeatedly when rebooting and then, when the HP Startup Menu appears, selecting Diagnostics (usually F2) and letting it run.

If it is NOT possible to run diagnostics, or if that does not work, then there is NOTHING more you can do by yourself -- and there is NOTHING we can do because we have no way of accessing your PC from here to run diagnostics or repair hardware.

You will need to have the PC physically examined in a service facility by folks that can run their own diagnostics to determine what is wrong with it.

The machine won’t turn on at all. The geek squad guy said they could charge me to fix it but suggested trying hp since the warranty literally expired one week ago. I won’t be buying another hp. The help has been just awful.

@Erin17 Welcome to HP Community!

I understand that the laptop will not turn on.

In that case, I would suggets you conatct our phone support and check for the support option.

Here is how you can get in touch with phone support.

1)Click on this link - www.hp.com/contacthp/

2)Select the product type.

3)Enter the serial number of your device or select let HP detect your product option.

4)Select the country from the drop-down.

5)You should see the HP phone support number or Chat option listed.

We are experiencing longer than expected wait times to reach an agent due to the CoViD-19 impact and there might have been issues in you getting the expected resolution on the issue.

I actually tried that first and the phone call kicked me off once it noted the warranty was expired. It said it wasn’t currently taking calls due to ‘current circumstances’.
