Hello @20Rec

Welcome !

  • Can you provide details on what exactly you did, how and what you tried to achieve ?
  • What exactly do you mean by "recovery disc" ?

Thank you for your answer.

I am planning to install a Solid State Disk as to replace the HDD.

I understood that the steps would be:

After installing the new SSD,  I would need a "recovery disc" to by copied / run so the new SSD will run.

The "revorery disc" is already as a partition of the C disc.

I was trying to copy the revovery disk to a SD card to to use it as above and the error 0x80004001 popped up and the copy will not continue.

Later I would have to download the back up with all the programs, data, etc that were in the removed HDD.

Could you please:

- Indicate if the procedure to install the new SSD is correct?

- Can the error 0x80004001 be fixed?

Thank you in advance!!!

You are welcome !

Well, the steps you mentioned are kind of wrong and impossible to implement.

What you need to do is very simple....

  1. Just install the SSD
  2. Ensure your PC starts and boot from Windows installation media (USB one, for example)
  3. Install Windows
  4. Restore manually some apps and files from the HDD - you may previously copy them on another device or cloud place such as Google Drive, OneDrive, DropBox.....  OR  you may eventually connect the HDD to the PC via USB cable and adapter

How to create the Windows installation media and how to install Windows on the SSD -> check the attached PDF file below and follow the instructions
