Hi,
This error code indicates that your notebook is facing problems with BCD. I believe reinstalling the windows is the best way to recover.
Still, if you want some advanced options I suggest to visit this link and test your luck

Good luck

The recovery demands the use of disc dvd for recovery. However my laptop came with a usb recovery. I can’t seem to do the repairs from the USB.
And right now, my laptop can’t even access my C Drive. It’s missing.
My command prompt shows x:\Windows\system32 instead of C:\Windows\system32.
Am confused. Nothing seems to be working. Help please.

Hi,
Microsoft allows us to install Windows on any Hard drive partition which means you can install windows on any partition. C drive is the default location for the Windows OS it can be changed later. This is the reason why Command prompt showing you drive letter X not C. Command prompt will automatically detect the Windows installation directory and follow all the commands.
once you enter the command, cmd will automatically detect the C drive and point to it. I recommend you to enter all commands as shown on the page I mentioned earlier.
You can change the directory to C drive by entering this command
cd C:\windows\system32
I recommend you to do not enter the above command since your OS is damaged. If you enter commands from X drive CMD will recover all damaged files from installation media.
>>You want recovery USB in order to let windows fix this issue itself.
- Download Rufus.
- Download Windows7, Windows8.1, Windows10
Windows7: https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows7 Windows 8.1: https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows8 Windows 10: https://www.microsoft.com/en-in/software-download/windows10
- Note: You need to use Windows media creation tool in order to download windows 8 or higher. Select create ISO file in order to get windows iso file.
- Plug in your USB and open Rufus.
- Select ISO file in Rufus and click on start.
- Now plug in this USB into defective notebook and power it on.
- It will automatically detect the USB and start the recovery.

I have a recovery USB that was given to me when I bought the laptop.
However, I can’t seem to use this recovery usb. I have tried using it severally but just won’t work.
To re-download the Windows, I have to purchase this to get a product key.
How do I use the windows 8 I already have in my USB recovery?
I am a PhD student and most of my work are in there, I don’t want to lose them.
Please help.

Hi,
You can create another USB drive using this drive but you must need windows 8.1 product key to install windows 8.1.
To recreate windows 8.1 iso using current USB drive you need to buy a small tool called power iso. [This will create windows 8.1 iso if your current USB is working correctly and setup files are not damaged/currepted] But this won't help you because you don't have a product key to install windows 8.1.
Download and install windows 10 iso instead, you can install windows 10 without a product key and it is more secure than windows 8.1.
You need to purchase windows 10 within 30-90days after installation.
I'm sorry but this is the only legal way.

Are you booting from the USB Recovery? Insert it in a usb port while laptop is off. Press power button and start tapping the Esc key immediately. This should open a menu where F9 Boot options is a choice. Tap F9 key- then use arror key to move to USB to select/highlight it. Next tap Enter key.
