Hi @MeganLo830

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thank you for sharing the error screen—what you're seeing is a critical boot failure with error code 0xc0000225, which means your HP laptop can’t locate the system files needed to start Windows. This often happens after a failed update, interrupted shutdown, or disk corruption.

Since you've already accessed recovery mode using F11, you're in a good position to begin repairs. Here's a structured recovery path to help restore your system:

What you can try:

Run Startup Repair

Restart the laptop.

As soon as it powers on, press F11 repeatedly until the Recovery/Advanced Options menu appears.

Go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > Startup Repair.

Follow the on-screen instructions.

Check Startup Settings

From the same Advanced Options menu, choose Startup Settings.

Select Safe Mode and see if the laptop boots.

System Restore

If you previously had restore points, go to Troubleshoot > Advanced Options > System Restore.

Pick a date before the issue began.

Rebuild Boot Files (Advanced)
If you have access to a Windows 10/11 installation USB:

Boot from the USB.

Choose Repair your computer > Troubleshoot > Command Prompt.

Run these commands one at a time:

bootrec /fixmbr
bootrec /fixboot
bootrec /scanos
bootrec /rebuildbcd

Full Recovery
If none of the above works, you may need to reinstall Windows using a recovery USB. You can create one from another PC using Microsoft’s Media Creation Tool:
Create Windows installation media

Next Step

If you don’t have a recovery USB yet, I recommend creating one on another computer and then using it on your HP laptop.

Would you like me to write a step-by-step guide for creating the recovery USB and using it on your laptop?

If none of these steps resolve the issue, your system may require service-level diagnostics. Let me know what happens after attempting Startup Repair or the command-line steps—I’ll guide you through the next phase.

You're clearly being proactive and thorough, and this kind of issue deserves a clean resolution.

Take care, and have an amazing day!
