I'm having a big issue with my PC. I recently did a hard reset on it after going through troubleshooting for issues with internet connection. I currently live in a dorm and while my PC was connection to the wifi it would say no internet. Nothing was wri g with the wifi here as I can still get on with my phone and no one else was having an issue.

After resetting the device it started to go through startup before it restarted. Now it's giving me an error that say `The computer restarted unexpectedly or encountered an unexpected error. Windows installation cannot proceed. To install Windows, click Ok to restart and then restart the installation'.  No matter how many times you hit Ok or try to exit the pc restarts and the same error comes up.  Is there anyway to fix this?

To start with, you can try to use Registry Editor to fix the issue:

  1. When you see The computer restarted unexpectedly error message press Shift + F10 on your keyboard. This should open Command Prompt.
  2. Enter regedit and press Enter to start Registry Editor.
  3. Once Registry Editor starts, navigate to the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMSetupStatusChildCompletion and double click the setup.exe in the right pane.
  4. Change the Value Data from 1 to 3 and click OK to save changes.
  5. Close Registry Editor and restart your computer.

Alternatively, you can try these methods:

  • Check your hard drive cables
  • Reset your BIOS settings and format the installation partition
  • Change your boot settings
  • Disconnect all your USB devices
  • Change your BIOS settings
  • Use Windows 10 recovery drive
  • Update your BIOS
