HP ENVY Notebook - m7-k211dx (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hey everyone, thanks for this opportunity to share with you my problem so we can find a solution!

My problem is that this computer is an i7, has 12GB of Ram and has 1TB of memory, with Windows 10 and it still goes super slow. It doesn't even run smoothly simple and old games like Age of Empries.

I have tried everything, I have formatted it, scanned with antivirus, stopped Windows Search and SuperFetch, I have scanned my Hard Drive with SeaTools which said it was ok and I don't know what else to do to make it run as it should.

What do you think it could be?

Ps: My disk usage sometimes spikes to 100% and it doesn't show anything been done in the pc for it to be at 100%, there are only a few things with 0.1 MB/s

Hi

You dont mention Malware, trojans and rootkits.

MalwareBytes is a good scanner.

I have SysInternals and check what is loaded, allowed to load etc etc.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sysinternals/downloads/autoruns

If in doubt please ask.

Welcome to the HP Support Community @Ignacio1324

First thing would be to do a Disk Cleanup.

 Disk Cleanup.PNG

Check everything except Delivery Optimization Files

Then do a Disk Defrag. “OPTIMIZE”

 Defrag.PNG

Then go to Advanced System Settings.

 Advanced Settings.PNG

In the Performance box click on SETTINGS.

 Performance settings.PNG

Click on Adjust for Best Performance.

 Best Performance.PNG

Click on APPLY.

Then click on the ADVANCED tab.

In the Virtual Memory box click on CHANGE.

 PerOP.PNG

Uncheck everything except Custom Size:

Vmem.JPG

Set Initial Size (MB): to a number higher than Recommended:

Then set Maximum Size (MB): To a number higher than the Initial Size (MB)

Click SET,  OK and reboot.

First of all, thank you so much for your answering me!

Second, I've done all of them and specially the last one, my recommended is 2422 MB so I put 2500 as a start and the for the max I put 5000 MB which made my computer even slower.

Untitled.pngHere is a photo that illustrates this.

Do you know what else I could do?

Thanks for the answer! 😄 I checked for Malware, trojans and rootkits and nothing showed up.

.I don't really know what  SysInternals is. How does that work?

@Ignacio1324

Then just use System Managed.

That one should not effect the speed unless they were equal???

The primary benefits of virtual memory include freeing applications from having to manage a shared memory space, increased security due to memory isolation, and being able to conceptually use more memory than might be physically available, using the technique of paging.

Hi

SysInternals is legendary, well Mark Russinovitch anyway.

Small simple programs to help maintain your PC.

Download, extract the zip file and select the function you want.

It can show that you load 4 or 44 'helpers' when you start a browser, 14 things begin at boot time.

Google 'helpers' etc etc.    much like it says on the webpage.
