Hello,
My computer started up and then it said there was a problem with microsoft windows and went to black screen. It began trying to repair disk errors and kept cycling through this for over an hour. I did a quick and then extensive test. The extensive test failed with failure ID Q4MMBX-6MK8RC-MFPWWJ-60V603 with description of Hard Drive 1. What does this mean and is it recoverable/repairable?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Jillian

Thank you Cheryl. This was the answer that I needed.
@CherylG wrote:The hard drive has failed/is failing and will need to be replaced. If you are still in warranty HP will replace it. If not a retail 2.5" laptop SATA hard drive can be used-Western Digital,Seagate,Toshiba, etcJust be sure to get one of at least equal capacity as the original in order to use HP Recovery Media to install Windows. It can be larger, but not smaller capacity.
