Microsoft Windows 11

Hi everyone,
HP just pushed/forced a BIOS update for my HP Victus laptop FB2082WM through regular windows update utility and ever since my laptop randomly freezes for 2 to 3 seconds regardless of the intensity of the work and when I am playing a game this happens more often and then I am facing delayed audio issues where the scene happens first and I receive the audio later. Current BIOS version F.09 date: 15/12/2025. My laptop was running quite happy and smooth at the previous version. Please help me out, I want to downgrade to the stable version. I want to know if anyone is facing similar issues and I'd be really grateful if anyone can point me towards a solution.

Thanks!

Hi @Rohail1

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

You can restore your HP Victus laptop’s BIOS to a stable version by following the official recovery methods outlined by HP. These include using key press combinations or creating a BIOS recovery USB drive to reinstall the earlier BIOS file.

Step 1: Perform a Hard Reset

  • Turn off the computer and disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Remove discs, memory cards, and nonessential peripherals.
  • With the AC adapter unplugged, press and hold the power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter and turn on the computer.

Step 2: Reset the CMOS

  • Turn off the computer.
  • For consumer notebooks like Victus:
    • Press and hold Windows + V keys.
    • While holding, press the power button for 2–3 seconds.
    • Release the power button but keep holding Windows + V until the CMOS reset screen appears or you hear beeps.
  • The unit restarts automatically after a successful reset.

Step 3: Recover BIOS Using Key Press Combination

  • Turn off the computer and ensure the AC adapter is connected.
  • Press and hold Windows + B keys, then press the power button for 2–3 seconds.
  • Release the power button but keep holding Windows + B.
  • The HP BIOS Update screen should appear and recovery begins automatically.
  • If this does not work, repeat using Windows + V keys.

Step 4: Recover BIOS Using a USB Recovery Drive

If the above steps do not restore the BIOS:

  1. On another working computer, download the correct BIOS file for your Victus FB2082WM from HP’s support page.
  2. Insert a blank USB drive and run the HP BIOS Update and Recovery utility.
  3. Select Create Recovery USB flash drive and copy the BIOS files.
  4. Insert the USB into your Victus laptop.
  5. Press and hold Windows + B (or Windows + V) while pressing the power button for 2–3 seconds.
  6. The BIOS recovery process will start automatically.

Step 5: Verify BIOS Version

  • After recovery, press Windows + R, type msinfo32, and check the BIOS version.
  • Confirm that it has reverted to the earlier stable release.

By following these steps—hard reset, CMOS reset, BIOS recovery via key press, or USB recovery—you can safely downgrade from BIOS F.09 to the previous stable version. This should restore smooth performance and resolve freezing or delayed audio issues.
