I suggest that you read my post more closely. If you booted to the installation media and end up with a blue screen when choosing "repair", with the same error, then proceed with booting to a Linux Live CD to check the drive and retrieve the important information to a separate media. Assuming the post is followed and there are no results obtainable, then the hard drive has failed and needs to be replaced. Then you can use either the Recovery Disk set you made to restore the PC to factory or use the installation media to clean install Windows 10.

The statement "You'll need to use the recovery tools on your installation media." means the installation media for Windows 10 and not the Recovery from F11 or Recovery Manager. Most likely the average user does not have the installation media because OEM's such as HP do not ship it with the PC. You can make one for yourself by going to this site with a working PC
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10
Scroll down to the "Using the tool to create installation media" and follow the directions. Then boot the problem PC to this media and choose the "Repair function" instead of the install.
BTW: " i need to reset my pc without losing my files" users really should backup important data on a regular basis but most do not do it until a problems arise. If you cannot get the OS repaired, then I suggest backing up the data outside of Windows, IE: use a Linux Live CD and copy the data to a different media - DVD, flash drive, or external hard drive. If you need help with that, please come back for additional help.

Thanks a lot.
Actually, yetersday I contacted a Microsoft support technician, and after a few hours of tying to figure out the problem, he finally walked me through the procedure of custom " I suppose it's the same as you meant by clean" installation of windows 10.

If Microsoft was the help then yes, most likely it was for a clean install. They will not assist on any non-Microsoft task, so they would not have assisted with any of the other steps I outlined previously.
Glad it was fixed, however.
