I have the same problem, but I noticed that it started when I removed my USB headphones from the laptop. When I plug the headphones in, the light goes out, as soon as I remove them the light turns back on again.

Hello,
Please try these troubleshooting tips: https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04474731
You may also try right-clicking on the Speaker icon in the system tray (by the date/time) and choosing "Troubleshoot Sound Problems.
Another option is to choose "Playback Devices" from the same speaker icon menu then click your headphones and press the "Set Default" button.
Reply if the issue continues.
Although I am an HP employee, I am speaking for myself and not for HP.
Please click the little thumbs-up icon to the lower right if my reply was helpful to you.
Please mark Accept As Solution if it solves your problem. This will help others, too.
