F9,F10

Hello I have an old HP Mini that I had loaned to our daughter, she recently passed and her husband brought it back.  One thing the battery is completely dead and will only power up being plugged in. When it powers up, it will not go any further than getting a pop up with F9,F10. I have pressed both commands soon as I turn it on, but will not do anything. I have already removed the battery and ram , put them back in and did not change anything. Please advise if there is something else to try or just toss it.

First of all, please allow me to pass along my condolences on the loss of your daughter.  I had my kid sister pass away some years ago and it is still painful.  They say time heals all wounds -- it doesn't!

Second, you should try booting without the battery connected and pressing F2 repeatedly the whole time.  If this works, it will start up the diagnostics page which will allow you to see if there are other failures than the battery.
