Hi, I hope someone will be able top help? I went through the HP process to factory reset reset and it got to 47% and then froze. Have left for several hours but still nothing. tried to exit and now have black screen with the following:
Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software change might be the cause. To fix the problem:
1. Insert your windows installation disc (this I do not have and the Notebook does not have a disc drive anyway)
2. choose your language settings and then click next. (this I do not understand)
3. click 'repair your computer' (I wish I could but I don't know where to find this?)
and then refering me to contact the system admin or computer manufacturer for assistance.
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: OxcOOOOOOf
Info: An error occurred while attempting to read the boot configuration data.
Many thanks
Edith

Hi
Assuming W7 and no DVD drive, then it may be hard to create a bootable media.
Heidoc.net
Also choice of 2 PC's....
- HP ENVY 14-3010NR SPECTRE Notebook PC Product Specifications
- HP ENVY 14-3090CA SPECTRE Notebook PC Product Specifications
Both of which came with...
HP Recovery Manager: Recover, restore and create recovery media for your PC.
Which suggests a USB would be created and subsequently bootable.
