Pavilion dv6, Product NQ615AV
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

I have an HP Pavilion Entertainment PC, Product #: NQ615AV which came with Windows 7 operating system.  A while back ago, I upgraded this notebook with Windows 10.  I wanted to factory reset this computer to it's original setting however it looks like there is nothing in the recovery drive.  I believe when I upgraded to Windows 10 I must have deleted all the files.  I can not locate the Windows 7 recovery disk that I made.  How can I get my notebook back to factory settings.  Does HP provide a CD/DVD disk or USB drive that I can use to factory reset this notebook?

Hi:

HP no longer sells recovery media for your notebook's model series.

However you can still order recovery media from this non-HP vendor.  Select the W7 operating system version your notebook originally came with.

If you can still read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on your notebook's case, you can make your own W7 installation media to reinstall W7.

Click on the Windows ISO Downloader.exe link to download the tool to create the W7 ISO file download.

Select the COEM ISO file for the version of W7 the product key is good for.

I have zipped up and attached the Microsoft utility below, that will allow you to either put the file on a USB flash drive or burn it to a DVD.

Then you can install the drivers and available software you need from your PC's support page.

If the Microsoft tool doesn't work to burn a DVD, use this free DVD burning software to burn the ISO file to a DVD.

Select the "Burn ISO file option."   Burn the DVD at the slowest possible speed you can to get a strong burn.

I was able to download the Windows ISO Downloader.exe file and was able to select the COEM ISO file for the W7 product I needed.  I went to utilize the Microsoft utility file and got an error message when I executed the file.error message.PNG

I went to Microsofts site and downloaded the .NET Framework 2.0 and when I went to install it got the following error message:  What can I do to fix this issue.  My goal is to be able to get the downloaded ISO file to the USB drive so I can install Windows 7?  Thanks for your help.

You're very welcome.

Unfortunately, I wouldn't be able to help you with why the Microsoft tool doesn't work.

I would  use the Rufus utility as plan B...

Plan C would be to use the free DVD burning software link I posted and burn the file to a DVD.
