So, I thought I preformed a reset on HP stream laptop, it completed the % but now if I turn the computer on it's stuck on HP logo then shuts off. It continues this non-stop. I'm pretty sure I did erase all files. But if I have to download anything for the computer I only have my phone to do anything with. I need it back. School is starting literally in a couple weeks ( college) that is. Please help!!!

Hi @Aallen98,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP Stream 11 might be stuck in a boot loop after a factory reset. This issue is likely related to the reset process failing or corrupting the OS files. Fortunately, there are steps you can take to try and fix this using just your phone, as you mentioned.
Here’s what you can do.
Hard Reset (Battery Drain)
Perform a hard reset to drain any residual power and reset hardware settings.
- Turn off the laptop.
- Unplug the power adapter.
- Press and hold the Power button for 15-20 seconds to fully drain the remaining power.
- Plug the power adapter back in and try turning it on again.
If this doesn't work, move to the next step.
Boot into Recovery Mode
You might be able to fix the issue by accessing the Windows recovery environment. Here’s how:
- Power off the laptop.
- Press the Power button, and as soon as the HP logo appears, press Esc repeatedly until the Startup Menu appears.
- From the menu, press F11 to enter the Recovery environment.
- Once in Recovery Mode, try selecting Reset this PC or System Restore.
If you're unable to access the recovery environment, continue below.
Create a Windows 10 Installation Media (on your phone)
Since your HP Stream 11 likely doesn't have a CD/DVD drive, you can use a USB drive to reinstall Windows. Here’s how to create installation media using your phone:
What You Need:
- A working USB drive with at least 8GB of space.
- OTG adapter (On-The-Go) to connect the USB drive to your phone.
Steps to Download Windows 10 Using Your Phone:
Download Windows 10 ISO on Your Phone:
- Use your phone’s browser to visit the official Microsoft website here.
- Download the Windows 10 ISO file directly to your phone.
Install a USB ISO Mounting App:
- Install an app like Rufus (available on Android) to create a bootable USB drive from the ISO file. If Rufus isn't available, you can try apps like EtchDroid or ISO 2 USB.

Create a Bootable USB:
- Connect the USB drive to your phone using the OTG adapter.
- Use the Rufus (or another app) to load the Windows 10 ISO onto the USB, making it a bootable drive.
Reinstall Windows:
- Once the bootable USB is created, insert it into your HP Stream 11.
- Power on the laptop and immediately press Esc repeatedly to enter the Startup Menu.
- Press F9 to select the Boot Device Options and choose the USB drive.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall Windows.
Reset BIOS (if needed)
If your computer doesn’t recognize the USB drive or still loops, resetting the BIOS settings might help:
- Turn off the laptop.
- Press F10 to enter the BIOS setup.
- Find the option to Load Setup Defaults, usually under the "Exit" tab.
- Save and exit, then try booting from the USB again.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
