Hi @Rajkm,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP Pavilion laptop is not detecting the hard disk and you're experiencing blue screen errors during a factory reset, it's possible that there could be a hardware or software issue causing this problem. Here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue.

Check Hardware Connections:

  • Ensure that the hard drive is properly connected to the laptop's motherboard. If it's a SATA drive, make sure the data and power cables are securely connected.

Check for Loose Connections:

  • If you're comfortable opening up your laptop, check for any loose connections or cables inside, including the hard drive and RAM.

Test the Hard Drive:

  • Boot the laptop from a bootable USB drive or CD/DVD with a diagnostic tool, such as the built-in Windows Memory Diagnostic tool or a third-party utility like Hiren's BootCD. Use a diagnostic tool to check the health and status of your hard drive.

BIOS/UEFI Settings:

  • Access the BIOS/UEFI settings and check if the hard drive is recognized there. If it's not, there may be an issue with the drive itself or the connection.

Update BIOS/UEFI:

  • Ensure that your laptop's BIOS/UEFI is up to date. Sometimes, a firmware update can resolve hardware-related issues.

Re-seat or Replace Hard Drive:

  • If the hard drive is not recognized and you've checked connections, you may need to re-seat the hard drive or consider replacing it if it's faulty.

Data Recovery (if needed):

  • If your data is important and you can't access it due to the hard drive issue, you may need to seek professional data recovery services.

Operating System Installation:

  • If the hard drive is detected and in good condition, you might need to reinstall the operating system from scratch. You can create a bootable USB drive with a Windows installation media and reinstall Windows.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
