Hi @mtpockets1234,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To factory reset an HP Pavilion 6500 running Windows 7 without the admin password, follow these steps.
Use HP Recovery Partition (if available)
- Turn off the laptop.
- Turn it back on and immediately start pressing the F11 key repeatedly until the "Recovery Manager" screen appears.
- In the Recovery Manager, select the option "System Recovery".
- Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a factory reset.
- This will wipe the laptop and restore it to factory settings.
- Wait for the process to complete and set up Windows as new.
Use a Windows 7 Installation Disc or USB
If the F11 option doesn’t work, you can reinstall Windows 7 using an installation disc or USB:
- Create a bootable Windows 7 USB or use a Windows 7 installation disc.
- You can download the Windows 7 ISO from Microsoft's website if needed.
- Insert the USB or disc into the laptop.
- Restart the laptop and press the appropriate key to access the Boot Menu (usually Esc, F9, or F10).
- Choose to boot from the USB or disc.
- Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall Windows.
- During the installation, you can format the drive to remove the previous installation and password.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
