Hi @mtpockets1234,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To factory reset an HP Pavilion 6500 running Windows 7 without the admin password, follow these steps.

Use HP Recovery Partition (if available)

  1. Turn off the laptop.
  2. Turn it back on and immediately start pressing the F11 key repeatedly until the "Recovery Manager" screen appears.
  3. In the Recovery Manager, select the option "System Recovery".
  4. Follow the on-screen instructions to perform a factory reset.
    • This will wipe the laptop and restore it to factory settings.
  5. Wait for the process to complete and set up Windows as new.

Use a Windows 7 Installation Disc or USB

If the F11 option doesn’t work, you can reinstall Windows 7 using an installation disc or USB:

  1. Create a bootable Windows 7 USB or use a Windows 7 installation disc.
    • You can download the Windows 7 ISO from Microsoft's website if needed.
  2. Insert the USB or disc into the laptop.
  3. Restart the laptop and press the appropriate key to access the Boot Menu (usually Esc, F9, or F10).
  4. Choose to boot from the USB or disc.
  5. Follow the on-screen prompts to reinstall Windows.
    • During the installation, you can format the drive to remove the previous installation and password.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
