Hp 2000 notebook pc

Trying to reset did the start and f11 the hp screen that says please wait showed up but nothing but a black screen afterwards. What can i do please help!

Hold the power button until it shuts down. On restart you should be back into Windows- if it was booting before.

Thank you ... i do need do reset it though its an old laptop and i cant remember the password so im locked out of it.

I would try running F2 System Diagnostics to test the drive. Sometimes it can repair errors if they aren't extreme. It may help get Recovery Manager running. Immediately after powering on start tapping the Esc key. This will open a menu where F2 System Diagnostics is an option. Tap F2 key and run the tests.
