Factory restore not working

HP G71-340US Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

Trying to restore laptop to factory settings and software.

After the laptop installs HP software it reboots for the first time in Windows 7.  I receive an error 

Uiadump.exe stopped working.  System reboots to system restore page and cannot get into Windows safe mode.
