HP OmniBook X Flip 16 inch 2-in-1 Laptop Next Gen AI PC 16-as0000 (BN2G0AV)
Linux

I attempt to update my laptop bios using a usb drive. I used the HP bios update and recovery tool on another pc that has window installed. Since my laptop just has arch Linux on it, I figured choosing to create the recovery usb drive was my best option. I used a 64GB 3.0 usb drive to create the bios update. I followed the instructions to get into bios updating mode (win + B) press the power button for 2 second and keep pressing win + B until I saw a blue screen appear. What I saw was the blue screen and in the middle of the screen it says bios updating block. After about 3-4 minutes the progress bar was about halfway and the laptop powered off. I waited for 4-5 minutes and it did not turn back on. When I press the power button the light on it was lit. After about 10 seconds the light went off for 2-3 send and came back on, which persist for another 10 seconds or so and went away. The entire time the screen was black nothing shows on the screen. Now when I attempt to go back into the bios updating mode, and press the Win +B keys the power button continue to behave the same but this time the CAPS lock key blink twice and the laptop is off until  I press the power button again. Another weird thing is when I unplug or plug in the charging cable the power button light up and turn off. It does that without me pressing it. The battery is also full charge. Any solution would be appreciated.

Hi @legndbrwnsaiyan

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out!

I understand your HP OmniBook X Flip 16  stopped displaying anything after the BIOS update from the USB drive was interrupted, and you are now seeing two Caps Lock blinks.

The two-blink behaviour along with a black screen can be associated with BIOS corruption/recovery.
According to HP's BIOS recovery guidance kindly find the below 2 doucments :
HP Notebook PCs - System BIOS Recovery has occurred - Click here

HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System)  - Click here

Kindly confirm does the fan run or do you hear any sounds while the screen remains black?

Kindly try these steps confirm :

  1. Disconnect the USB drive and all other external devices.
  2. Disconnect the AC adapter, then press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds.
  3. Reconnect only the AC adapter and try powering on the notebook.
  4. If the screen remains black, recreate the BIOS recovery USB using the BIOS specifically provided for this model/product number. HP cautions that the BIOS must match the specific computer model.
  5. With the notebook powered off and AC adapter connected, insert the recovery USB. Hold Windows + B, briefly press the Power button, and continue holding Windows + B while checking for the HP BIOS recovery screen. Follow the recovery prompts if they appear.
  6. If BIOS recovery still does not start and the two-blink code continues, kindly contact HP Support for further assistance rather than repeatedly attempting to flash the BIOS.

You can follow HP's official instructions Click here: HP Notebook PCs - Recovering the BIOS (Basic Input Output System).

I hope this helps.
