I tried this but when I shut down I still get the message that there is a download but nothing downloads and after several miinutes the computer finally shuts down.

First!  Un-install HP support Asst.;  Then download the newest version at  h18021.www1.hp.com/helpandsupport/HPSA.html

 This worked for me on my compaq presario w/windows7

 Make sure you log in to HP support or Create an Acct.

 just follow the instructions.

Also, type the address into the top of the page, Not under search, but under http://

 You must trust yourself to UNINSTALL HP support Assistant first in control panel; programs!!!

I have tried everything. I downloaded the latest version of support assistant and im still having the problem. The health scan will go through fine and then bring me to the screen showing what hardware needs to be updated. so i click ok for it ti install the hardware updates. In my case when i do that i passes everything up until it gets to the downloading and installing part in which both fail. It does this every time. How can i fix this so my hardware updates can download and install?

I've similar problems-

Downloading updates                      failed

Installing/Applying the items selected  failed.

 

Mine is a desktop HP Pavilion HPE h8-1285d and not notebook.

 

Should i  also download and install latest version from

http://h18021.www1.hp.com/helpand support/HPSA.html?

 

Please guide me accordingly.
