Hp Zbook 15 G3

My friend let me borrow his HP ZBook for creating modules and a few days ago it started going into a BIOS update without prompting me, so I assumed he set it as automatic and left. When I came back it was turned off, but when I tried to turn it back on it would start up, but the screen would remain black. The fan and keyboard light turned on, and it would stay on for about 15 seconds before turning off, then turning back on again. No beeping or anything.

I've done all of the Reset options, Taking out the battery and everything but nothing seems to be working. I checked to make sure it wasn't just a screen issue either. I'm guessing the BIOS chip needs to be replaced, but I'm not sure where to get one. Is Ebay the only place I can get one?

Did you try these BIOS recovery methods?

The BIOS chip itself is not a user replaceable part, it is soldered in.

For sure a skilled person can do it but another problem is that you never know  about the quality of the chips and more importantly if they also contain something unwanted so it would be a bit risky.

The BIOS update takes several minutes and has a few automatic boots in between, so you should not interrupt it.

Hope you get the official recovery procedure to work.

People are using their precious remaining lifetime to try and help, so it is common courtesy to come back and tell what the solution eventually was even if you found it elsewhere. It is for the benefit of everyone.
