Elitebook 8440P
Microsoft Windows 7 (64-bit)

My Hard Drive just failed on my elitebook, Wont even allow me to get to through the boot menu.  I am going to replace HD, but now trying to find out my options on installing WIN7 Pro?  I do not have any sort of back up disks?  Is there something I can get from HP?

Thanks

Hi:

If you live in the USA/Canada, call HP at this number 1-800-334-5144, and order a set of W7 recovery disks for your notebook.

Have the serial number of the PC handy to give to the customer services rep.

A set will cost around $10 delivered via first class mail.

Great advice, However HP is now charging $30.00 to replace the software, I just ended up buying a full version of Windows 7 Pro without the Bloatware... Thanks though!!

You're very welcome.

$30!!!

That's crazy.

But those disks have no bloatware.

You get one plain W7 Pro operating system disk and one application and driver DVD, so you get a nice clean installation.

I have the same model and disk set and it only cost $10 a couple of years ago.
