HP Pavilion x360 - 14-cd0522na
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

I've made many recovery sticks for HP laptops but the latst one seemed to be made sucessfully but the recovery failed at about 75% of the way through.  I tried twice with the exact same result.

Here's the error log for someone from HP to have a look at:

Please help me solve this issue.

I can load Windows 10 from a Microsoft made memory stick but the result is Windows with many problems in Device Manager even after multiple Windows Updates.  There are so many optional updates that it would take many hours to try each one in turn.  I tried them all which resulted in the mouse and keyboard stopping working so had to use a USB mouse to do anything

I always prefer the HP OEM Windows with desktop background, etc.

Hello @RudolfXC

Sorry to hear that you are having problems ... I would like to help you.

To help you I need to know the product number (p/n) of your notebook !

It looks something like this:

You will find this information on the back/rear of your notebook in small alphanumeric letters.

The product number (p/n) is legally allowed information about the computer. This is not sensitive data.

It is allowed to publish it in public.

Hello @RudolfXC

(1) Please reinstall your operating system !

You need another (stable) computer to prepare 2x <USB flash drive>

(1 A) Create a Windows setup using HP Cloud Recovery Tool and have it written to <USB flash drive> type 2.0.

(1 B) Create a Windows setup using HP Cloud Recovery Tool and have it written to <USB flash drive> type 3.0.

HP Consumer PCs - Using the HP Cloud Recovery Tool in Windows 11 and 10

https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_4511095-4511141-16

( All HP software and drivers are already included )

- Boot with (1 A) and run windows setup, if it fails

- Boot with (1 B) and run windows setup

(2) Please report your results

I remade the USB stick and it now worked.

Does the cloud recovery tool not do a CRC check when complete to make sure the download is correct?

Cloud recovery installed Windows 10 1809 so I ran Windows Update which did over 20 updates.  When I ran again, it found Windows 20H2 so let it update.  This failed twice so tried to update to Windows 11 which also failed because I need at least Windows 10 2004.  I than ran setup for Windows 10 21H2 from a USB stick and that also failed.

How can I update this laptop as this version of Windows is now out of support and want to try Windows 11?

You can try

--->>> Windows 11

I'm trying that now but I'll probably have the same driver problem?

Also, want to be able to use Windows 10 21H2.

Just finished installing Windows 11 and after updating multiple times still have these devices  without drivers:

Can someone point me in the right direction to download the drivers needed?

Afer looking at the Hardware IDs and lots of Googling, I downloaded and ran the following files which removed all the yellow exclaimation marks :

Can an admin make up an install containing all these files and put on the support site for this laptop and enable Support Assistant to recognise these files are needed when a driver scan is done?
