HP Beats 15 Notebook PC
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop has been freezing lately so I did some system tests and it failed both the short and long drive self-tests. The failure ID's I got for them are as follows:

Short Drive Self-Test failure ID: PLUCG1-7HM981-MFPWL1-60UW13

Long Drive Self-Test failure ID: PLUCG1-7HM981-MFPWL1-61C613

Does this mean I have to replace my hard drive? If so, am I able to save everything that's on my laptop before I do that?

Hi:

Yes it does...if you can still get into windows, backup your files off there ASAP.

You can enter the codes in the box at the link below to see if you get more details.

If you can't then it is highly doubtful you will be able to recover any files.

You can purchase a sata to USB notebook hard drive adapter, plug the drive into a working PC's USB port and see if it will read the drive.  One of those is about $10.
