HP Notebook - 17-p161dx (ENERGY STAR)
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My laptop was running super rough and would randomly freeze and lag super hard. When I checked the task manager I noticed that it was using 100% of the disk when it would freeze. I decided to just run a recovery on the laptop since I already have my personal files backed up on an external hard drive. When the computer went to restart during the recovery process it's wouldn't get stuck on a failure screen. I then went to the hardware diagnostics and ran a extensive system test. This then gave me "Failure ID: PLXW0W-823B0H-MFPX61-60UF03" and "Product ID: P1A53UA#ABA" . I tried to call support for help but my laptop is not in warranty and I don't have the $50 they were asking for to activate support+. The support tech did say the issue was due to a corrupt file but couldn't tell me anything on the procedure to fix it

I really need my computer tomorrow as I work from home on my laptop. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I'm not totally computer illiterate so if there is a guide I can follow somewhere please let me know.

Thank you in advance for any help!

@NonCents

Hello,

The test found a problem with your hard drive and it may need to be replaced. If possible, back up your personal files to a flash drive or external hard drive as soon as you can.

The following documents are available for reference:

The procedure for replacing the hard disk drive can be found in the HP manual below on pages 48, 49 and 50.

In case of need, do not hesitate to contact us.

As stated in my original post I already have all my personal files backed up on my external hard drive and also that when I called support they said it was due to a corrupt file.
