HI @hesham2003,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If Fast Startup on your laptop works inconsistently, here are some steps to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Power Settings

  1. Open Control Panel and go to Power Options.
  2. Click on Choose what the power buttons do.
  3. Click on Change settings that are currently unavailable.
  4. Ensure Turn on fast startup (recommended) is checked.

2. Update Drivers

  • Outdated drivers can affect boot speed:
    1. Open Device Manager (right-click the Start menu).
    2. Update drivers for your graphics card, chipset, and storage controllers.

3. Disable Hybrid Sleep

  • Sometimes, hybrid sleep can cause issues with Fast Startup:
    1. Go to Control Panel > Power Options > Change plan settings for your selected plan.
    2. Click on Change advanced power settings.
    3. Expand Sleep and set Allow hybrid sleep to Off.

4. Run Windows Update

  • Ensure your system is up to date:
    1. Go to Settings > Update & Security > Windows Update.
    2. Install any pending updates.

5. Check for Startup Programs

  • Too many programs launching at startup can slow boot times:
    1. Press Ctrl + Shift + Esc to open Task Manager.
    2. Go to the Startup tab and disable unnecessary programs.

6. Run a Disk Cleanup

  • Cleaning up temporary files can help:
    1. Search for Disk Cleanup in the Start menu.
    2. Select the drive you want to clean (usually C:) and follow the prompts.

7. Check for Hard Drive Issues

  • Run a check on your hard drive:
    1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    2. Type chkdsk /f /r and press Enter. Follow the prompts.

8. Adjust BIOS Settings

  • Sometimes, settings in the BIOS can affect boot performance:
    1. Restart your laptop and enter BIOS (usually by pressing F2, F10, or Del during startup).
    2. Look for options related to Fast Boot and ensure they are enabled.

9. Reset Fast Startup Settings

  • Sometimes resetting the Fast Startup settings can help:
    1. Uncheck the Turn on fast startup option.
    2. Save changes and restart your laptop.
    3. Then re-enable the option.

10. Check for System Corruption

  • Run the System File Checker:
    1. Open Command Prompt as an administrator.
    2. Type sfc /scannow and press Enter.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
