When I turn on the notebook I get an error message " Fatal Error C0000022 applying update operation 42415 of 101919 (\Regi....) It just stays on screen with the dotted circle rotating round & round. I ran hard drive tests Smar, Short DST, Optimized DST & Long DST check & all passed. I rebooted & continue to get same message. I also did the removal of battery & unplugging power cord & turned off & still getting same error message. It was working fine last night & was installing updates. This morning it was off but when I turned on I got the error message. Any suggestions would be welcome! Thanks!

Hello @Kelela62
Welcome to the HP Support forum. Thank you for posting !
This is happening because the computer cannot successfully and fully load Windows. It fails due to recently applied Windows Update - it tries to update the Windows Registry and fails for some unknown reason. It's great you did the hardware tests and it works fine.
Hopefully, there is a ray of light in the tunnel and it's called System Restore. You can use it to restore your PC's system files and settings prior to the start time of the issue in hope this will resolve the problem.
*SYSTEM RESTORE*
1. Please, shutdown the computer using the power button
2. Power it on.
2.1 As soon as you press the power-on button, immediately begin hitting the Esc button (like tap-tap-tap).
This should open a HP Startup Menu which may look similar to this one
3. Choose/press F11 for System Recovery options.
The computer should boot from it's recovery partition to open you various recovery options. Note, that F11 option will only work if the recovery partition is there (not deleted) and intact. From there, you have prenty of options to choose from. Every HP computer comes with recovery partition present to assist in tough moments.
Please, perform "System Restore" first in an attempt to fix the issue. Please, restore back to previous days (restore point) where the issue was not present. Here is more info:

Hope this helps. Let me know how it goes and provide feedback/details.
