I have to use Fedora for work, the ACPI fan wont go above 2400 RPM. I made sure the HP_WMI driver was installed, and verified system was up to date. I've made sure the system has all the drivers and tools needed. I will be using the computer with load and will need the cooling to operate. I searched the net and came up empty. Any ideas help, thank you in advance.

@Tgilstrap, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

Update BIOS/UEFI:

Check if there's a BIOS update for your Omnibook 5 on HP's website. Sometimes fan issues are fixed with BIOS updates.

Check BIOS Fan Settings:

Reboot and enter BIOS (press Esc, F2, or F10 during startup).

Look for "Fan Control" or "Thermal" settings and set it to Performance or Max Cooling.

Test Fan Hardware:

Run HP's diagnostic tool (press Esc during boot) to check if there’s a hardware problem with the fan.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.

Using Microsoft to update the BIOS very important to this, verified the most up to date kernel {6.1.31 is missing the HP-WMI drivers} then verifying the location of the HP-WMI was correct. the drivers were in the correct main folder HWMON,  incorrect sub folder, needed all fan1_[drivetype] to be moved from the HWMON1 to the HWMON main folder .

Driver location  /sys/class/hwmon

Thank you!
