Hi all,
Im not sure if this problem is Windows 10 or my PC.
When I select multiple files using the Ctrl button, my computer will make copies without my command. I have the files selected to move to the folders that I want, but its pretty annoying to have to go back and delete the dupes.
This is with JPG files, I dont know if it happens with docs or not, but I am guessing so.
I am using Webroot software, but nothing comes up with a virus threat.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks,
Jeff

Normally, the Control key does not copy.
You know this. I don't have an explanation.
What to do?
Not sure - Ctrl key working as a copy command is not normal.
The usual:
Make sure Windows Updates are current.
Make sure your HP software and drivers are current / updated.
Refresher - how it is supposed to work...
Group of Files - one after another
Open File Explorer
Left-Click on the first file you want in the group of files.
Depress and hold the Shift key
Slide down, click on the last file you want in the group.
At the top of the File Explorer window - Home tab - Click Copy
Choose from list of destinations OR use last option Choose destination
Group of Files - single-select-and-add from a list
Open File Explorer
Left-Click on the first file you want in the group of files
Single Left-Click on another file in the list
At the top of the File Explorer window - Home tab - Click Copy
Choose from list of destinations OR use last option Choose destination
There a many, many articles on the 'net about Windows shortcuts - lots.
Microsoft - Keyboard shortcuts in Windows - Windows Help
This article does include some advertising - simply ignore the extra bits and / or perhaps open in a private window. The information is pretty extensive. https://turbofuture.com/computers/keyboard-shortcut-keys
