Hi @Thomas19679,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To connect your iPhone to your HP laptop via USB and you’re being asked for a passcode, it sounds like you might be trying to pair or trust your iPhone with the laptop. The passcode you're referring to is not typically related to the laptop itself but is rather a part of the device pairing or trusting process. Here’s how you can address this situation:

**1. Trusting Your iPhone on Windows 10/11

When you connect your iPhone to your Windows laptop, you should be prompted to “Trust” the device. Here’s how to proceed:

Connect iPhone to Laptop:

  • Use a USB cable to connect your iPhone to the laptop.

Trust This Computer Prompt:

  • When you connect your iPhone, you should see a “Trust This Computer?” prompt on your iPhone.
  • Tap Trust on your iPhone to establish a connection.

Install Necessary Drivers:

  • Ensure that iTunes or the necessary drivers are installed on your laptop to allow your iPhone to communicate properly.
  • If not already installed, you can download iTunes from the Apple website and install it.

**2. Checking or Resetting Laptop Passcode

If you're being asked for a passcode related to pairing devices and it's a security feature of your laptop, it's likely related to a Windows feature or a third-party application. Here’s how to address it:

**a. Check Bluetooth Settings

Open Bluetooth Settings:

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Bluetooth & other devices.

Check Pairing Process:

  • If you are trying to pair a device via Bluetooth, ensure that the laptop’s Bluetooth is turned on and is discoverable.

**b. Check for Existing Passcodes

  1. Review Bluetooth Passcodes:
    • Some Bluetooth devices require a passcode to pair. The default passcode is often “0000” or “1234”. Try these common default codes.

**c. Reset or Update Bluetooth

Remove and Re-pair Devices:

  • If you have paired devices in the past, remove them from the Bluetooth settings and try pairing again.

Update Bluetooth Drivers:

  • Go to Device Manager > Bluetooth, right-click your Bluetooth adapter, and select Update driver.

**d. Check Security Settings

  1. Check Windows Security Settings:
    • Ensure that no additional security software or settings are blocking the pairing process.

**e. Verify with iTunes

  1. Open iTunes:
    • If you have iTunes installed, open it and ensure your iPhone is recognized. iTunes can often resolve connection issues by updating necessary drivers.

**3. Locate Laptop Password

If you’re referring to a Windows password (like a user account password) because you’re having trouble accessing your laptop:

**a. Reset Windows Password

Use Password Reset Disk:

  • If you created a password reset disk, use it to reset your password.

Use Microsoft Account:

  • If you use a Microsoft account, you can reset your password online by visiting the Microsoft Account Password Reset.

Access Safe Mode:

  • Boot into Safe Mode and try logging in with default or administrative credentials.

**b. Use Local Account Options

  1. Local Account Recovery:
    • If using a local account, use options available in Safe Mode or consult support documents for password recovery steps.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
