Our firewall apparently expired Aug.22 -- we were locked out of our computer unless responding to an 800# who said that they were HP support assistance. $250 later for technical support they unlocked our pc by taking it over. Is this a real company or a hacker that can now get into my computer anytime they want? The computer is running ridiculously slow and I don't want to call them. What do I do?

Sorry, you did pay a scammer. HP would NEVER do that.
Regards.

Hi
In addition to Banhien's excellent answer, I would add...
Windows 10 has a Firewall built with no end date on it. So it won't expire.
I use these....

If in doubt please ask.
