Hello,
I have received a firmware update from HP via Windowupdate, but this cannot be installed.
It is HP Inc.- Firmware 15.49.0.0
It is downloaded, then the PC restarts and it says on the black screen that I should wait and not disconnect the power supply.
So I wait 10 minutes, 15 minutes, 20 minutes and even 30 minutes and nothing happens.
Nothing else is displayed.
I can only get out of it by switching the device off using the button.
The laptop also runs without updating the firmware.
Otherwise the firmware updates always worked.
But where is the problem?
Thanks for help or ideas.
Regards from Germany

Hi @Fritschie
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like the firmware update is stalling during the installation process. Firmware updates can sometimes be tricky, especially if there's a communication issue between the PC and the printer, or if there’s a glitch with the update itself. Here are a few things you can try to get this resolved:
1. Check for a Stable Internet Connection:
- Make sure your internet connection is stable, as firmware updates can be interrupted if the connection drops, even temporarily.
2. Run the Update Manually:
- Instead of relying on the automatic update, you can try downloading the firmware update directly from the HP Support website (https://support.hp.com).
- Search for your printer model, navigate to the "Firmware" section, and download the latest firmware manually. Then, run the update from the downloaded file.
- If the update still doesn't work, you might see some additional error messages that could provide more insight.
3. Reset the Printer to Factory Settings:
- If there was a previous issue with the printer that caused the update to stall, try resetting the printer to its factory settings and attempt the update again. This can sometimes resolve issues that block firmware updates.
4. Update HP Software:
- Ensure that you have the latest version of the HP Smart app or HP Printer Software installed on your PC. Sometimes, the update process works more smoothly with the latest software verion
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
