Hi,
About two weeks ago I updated the BIOS of my laptop through the HP Support Assistant to the Q78 Ver. 01.12.00 (07/28/2020).
Everything went well but after the update I noticed that when I'm booting up my laptop, it is taking too much time (more than 10 seconds) to display the GRUB menu (I have a dual-boot with Ubuntu and Windows 10).
As the issue is happening even before an OS is loaded, I suspected the firmware to be responsible of the problem so I run the following command in my linux terminal : systemd-analyze which returned me that the firmware is taking 11.489s to load which I think is a very long time.
So, I'm wondering what can I do to reduce this loading time. I tried to find something the BIOS options but nothing seems wrong and I didn't want to change everything as I'm not to familiarize with the BIOS options.
I hope someone could help me and that I'm not the only one who has this issue.
Thank you in advance and sorry for the English mistakes,

The command systemd-analyze shows a graphic of what system services start at what time intervals. I looked up several examples of this that showed the firmware section being 30 seconds or longer. So your timeframe of 11 seconds is not excessive.
You can NOT reduce the firmware timeframe because that code is "burned" into the chip on the system board and you can not modify that.
I think you're being unrealistic on timeframe expectations.

Thank you for taking the time to answer me.
I asked to others students who have approximately the same type of laptop (i7, 16 GHz of RAM, SSD drive) as mine and for all of them the firmware loading time was between 3 and 7 seconds. So I don't know what king of examples you found but 30 seconds is way too long. In 2020 it's not possible to have to wait 30 seconds to just see the Windows loading screen.
I know some students who have exactly the same HP 840 G5 laptop as mine so I will asked them their firmware timeframe and their BIOS version to compare their value with mine. But it will take some time to have all the results so I will let know when I have them.
Yeah I know I cannot flash myself the firmware but I was wondering if the BIOS update (which overwrote the firmware code) could have change an option that caused my firmware to slowing down but as I already told you I didn't find anything in the BIOS options (the fastboot is still on).
