Flashing HP logo to off screen

HP Lightweight Stream

I tried to completely wipe my computer system so that i could update to windows 10 because i simply didn't have a lot of free space when i bought the laptop. When it was trying to restart after restoring the laptop, the computer would turn on, the LED would turn on, but it would flash the HP logo, and go black and do it again until it was just turned off. I tried holding the Windows button with the B button for that and it didn't help anything. I just need my computer to turn back on to update to windows 10 and be able to use again.

Hey there! @LTipton55

Are you able to boot into the BIOS or F2 page on the PC?

Have you tried checking with a different keyboard?

Have you tried checking with a different adapter?

Have you tried checking with an external monitor? Does the issue persist?

Please share the product number of the PC to assist you better.

Connect an external monitor to the PC and backup the data.

Try the steps recommended below.

Reset a laptop with a removable battery

Turn off the computer.
Remove the computer from any port replicator or docking station.
Disconnect all external connected peripheral devices such as USB storage devices, external displays, and printers.
Unplug the AC adapter from the computer.
Remove the battery from the battery compartment.
With the battery and power cord unplugged, press and hold the Power button for about 15 seconds to drain any residual electrical charge from the capacitors.
Insert the battery and plug the AC adapter back into the laptop, but do not connect any of the peripheral devices.
Press the Power button to turn on the computer.
The computer starts normally or a startup menu opens.
If a startup menu opens, use the arrow keys to select Start Windows Normally, and then press the Enter key.
After Windows opens, reconnect each peripheral device that was disconnected, one device at a time, until all devices are reconnected.

If you are able to boot into BIOS try restoring the BIOS to default.

1.    Turn off the computer and wait five seconds.
2.    Press the Power button to start the computer and repeatedly press the F10 key to enter the BIOS setup menu.
3.    On the BIOS Setup screen, press F9 to select and load the BIOS Setup Default settings.
4.    Press F10 to Save and Exit.
5.    Use the arrow keys to select Yes, then press Enter when asked Exit Saving Changes?
6.    Follow the prompts to restart your computer.

If you are able to boot into the F2 page try running a system diagnostics test and check if the hardware is functioning correctly.

After i run the BIOS, it starts to boot back up and gets to 49% and then it says there is an error and unable to restart and continues with the HP logo flashing.

To take the battery out i'll have to take the whole laptop apart & go from there which is what i intend on doing this afternoon, if nothing else works i'll just purchase a new laptop.

@LTipton55,

Thanks for writing back to us.

It sounds like few of the operating system files on the PC has got corrupted due to which you have issues booting into the PC.

Try performing a cloud recovery on the PC and check if it helps.
