Hi @ScottO6

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I’m really sorry this has locked you out—especially on a new laptop when you’re just trying to get started. If your HP 14-inch laptop (model ep2012wm or HP14N150) is stuck at the PIN login screen and won’t show any other options, you can still regain access using a few recovery steps.

Step-by-step actions to reset your PIN and unlock your laptop

Restart and wait at the login screen

  • Power off the laptop completely
  • Turn it back on and wait at the PIN entry screen
  • If no options appear, press Ctrl + Alt + Delete once to refresh the login interface

Try switching to password login

  • If you signed in with a Microsoft account, click Sign-in options (may appear as a key icon or under the PIN box)
  • Choose Password instead of PIN
  • Enter your Microsoft account password to log in

Reset your PIN online

  • On another device, go to:
    Microsoft Account Recovery
  • Sign in and follow the steps to reset your account credentials
  • Once reset, return to your laptop and choose Sign-in options > Password

Use recovery mode if no options appear

  • Restart the laptop and press Esc repeatedly, then press F11 to enter HP Recovery Environment
  • Choose Troubleshoot > Reset this PC
  • Select Keep my files to preserve your data while resetting login settings

This guide includes illustrations and recovery options tailored to HP laptops.

Let me know if the sign-in options never appear or if you’re unsure whether you used a local or Microsoft account—I’ll guide you further based on what we find.

You’ve done everything right by acting quickly, and we’ll make sure you’re back in control.

If my response helped, please mark it as an Accepted Solution It helps others and spreads support. 💙 Also, tapping "Yes" on "Was this reply helpful?" makes a big difference! Thanks! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
