Hi,

I have a hp laptop windows 10, intel core i5.

I forgot my password and for some reason my pin is not working even I cannot setup my pin, so the other option left was my finger scanner, and it just disappeared or disabled.

Can you please help me on this?

Hi @Ssggssgg

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

I understand you're experiencing difficulties with accessing your HP laptop due to password, PIN, and fingerprint scanner issues.

While your situation seems complex, here are a few recommendations that may help resolve these issues:

Password Recovery:

  • You can try to reset your password using Microsoft's online account recovery process. Visit the Microsoft account recovery page and follow the instructions to reset your password using the required account information.

PIN Setup Troubleshooting:

  • Ensure that Windows is fully updated. Sometimes, outdated software can cause issues with PIN setups.
  • Navigate to Settings > Accounts > Sign-in Options and check if the PIN setup is enabled. If not, attempt to set it up again.

Fingerprint Scanner Troubleshooting:

  • Go to Device Manager and check if the fingerprint scanner is listed and enabled. Right-click on the Start menu and select Device Manager. Under Biometric Devices, ensure the fingerprint reader is enabled and applicable drivers are installed.
  • If it appears disabled, try uninstalling the device and then scanning for hardware changes to reinstall it.

Performing System Updates:

  • Run Windows Update to ensure your laptop has the latest security patches and updates. Sometimes, updates can resolve underlying issues.

HP Support Assistant:

  • If you're still experiencing issues, use HP Support Assistant, which is pre-installed on HP devices, for additional troubleshooting steps or guidance. You can find HP Support Assistant by searching for it in the Windows Start menu.
