My caregiver (Nan) bought an HP laptop because her ESL teacher said she needed one. Nan has NO computer skills, poor English. She bought one, rather blindly, from Target. Someone in her ESL class “helped” her set it up, and gave her a password to get into Windows (8?) (opening screen), but the alphanumerical series she wrote down is incorrect. The classmate has become unfindable. I (employer) am trying to help her, but we need to recover/change her password or maybe do a reset. Can anyone help to solve the lockout? (The receipt/warranty information has also gone missing.)
I am using my personal IPad for this. Please reply to marylis@sbcglobal.net.

I wish we could help you, but sorry, due to changes in Community policy, we are no longer able to provide any assistance with password reset or recovery issues.
In addition, according to the Community's Rules of Participation:
4d. No posts shall include instructions or directions intended to bypass or subvert security measures, including passwords, locking mechanisms, fingerprint scans, etc., or to bypass any safety measures.
For assistance NOW, you have to contact your regional HP Customer Support location directly as they will confirm ownership of the PC before providing any assistance -- something we are not able to do from here.
