Hi @Spankster1

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Let’s get you back into your notebook. To guide you properly, I’ll need to understand a few things first:

Quick Questions to Pinpoint the Issue

  1. Notebook Model: Is this an HP laptop? If so, do you know the exact model (e.g., HP Pavilion, EliteBook, etc.)?
  2. Operating System: Are you running Windows 10, Windows 11, or something else?
  3. Type of Password Prompt: What kind of password is it asking for?
    • Is it a Windows login password (local account or Microsoft account)?
    • A BIOS or UEFI password that appears before Windows loads?
    • A BitLocker recovery key screen?
    • Or something else entirely?

Each of these has a different recovery path, and I’ll walk you through the safest and most effective one once we know which it is.

Could you describe what the screen looks like when you try to log in? Any error messages or icons you see will help narrow it down.

We're looking forward to helping you get back up and running!

Regards,

Hawks_Eye
