@Greyson77, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand how frustrating it can be when your laptop keeps freezing and restarting, especially when you're trying to avoid leaving the house and replacing it isn't an option. Let's try a few steps to get your system back up and running.

Perform a Hard Reset

This helps clear any temporary hardware glitches:

  • Turn off the laptop completely.
  • Disconnect the power adapter and remove the battery (if removable).
  • Press and hold the Power button for 15 seconds.
  • Reconnect the battery and power adapter, then try turning it on.

Boot into Safe Mode

Safe Mode loads only essential drivers and can help isolate the issue:

  • Turn on the laptop and press F8 or Shift + F8 repeatedly before the HP logo appears.
  • If successful, select Safe Mode with Networking.
  • If it boots fine here, the issue may be with a driver or startup program.

Run HP Hardware Diagnostics

HP provides built-in diagnostics to check for hardware issues:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Turn it back on and immediately press Esc, then F2 to open HP PC Hardware Diagnostics.
  • Run the System Tests (especially the Memory and Hard Drive tests).

Reset BIOS to Defaults

Corrupted BIOS settings can cause freezing:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Turn it on and press F10 to enter BIOS.
  • Press F9 to load defaults, then F10 to save and exit.

System Recovery (if nothing else works)

If the system still freezes, you can try restoring it to factory settings:

  • Turn off the laptop.
  • Turn it on and press F11 repeatedly to access HP Recovery Manager.
  • Choose System Recovery (this will reinstall Windows, so back up data if possible).

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
