@gandabeatty, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Frozen BIOS Recovery on HP Laptops!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP laptop is frozen during a BIOS recovery at 2%, here are some steps you can take to troubleshoot the issue:

Perform a Hard Reset:

  • Disconnect the AC adapter.
  • Remove the battery, if possible. If the battery is non-removable, you can skip this step.
  • Press and hold the power button for 10-15 seconds to discharge any residual power.
  • Reconnect the AC adapter (and battery if removed) and turn on the laptop again.

Attempt BIOS Recovery Again:

  • Access the BIOS recovery tool.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to initiate BIOS recovery again.

Restart the Recovery:

  • If the issue persists, restart the computer and try running the BIOS recovery from an HP website or HP Recovery media.

Check for External Devices:

  • Ensure no external devices are connected (e.g., USB drives, printers) as these can sometimes interfere with BIOS recovery processes.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
