Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello community,

I recently did a reset on my HP laptop to clear it of all previous files. This succeeded, but now I have the problem that my recoverdy disk (E:) is almost full. After a long search, I found out that the reason for this is the preload file, which is 12,6 GB. When I look into my storage space tab, it records this used space as 'other'.

Is there a way to remove this large piece of useless space? I look online and found that the preaload file itself is important and thefore can't be deleted!

Can somebody please help me?

(I am Dutch so sorry for the minor spelling issues)

Yes, that is correct.  The Recovery Partition is designed that way so as to not waste disk space and is not a problem to leave it "as is".

The Recovery partition on the hard drive is to restore the Windows version back to factory by using Recovery Manager.  It is typical for that Partition to be "Full" as should not a concern.  If you are getting that warning, It happens when the Recovery Manager is not used to restore.

Just a note: Since the HP model number was not posted, the Recovery Partition is of little value if Windows 10 was not the original version but upgraded to Windows 10 at a latter time.

Hello TheOldMan,

Thanks for your reply. The model is a HP Pavilion G15 wich came with Windows 10 installed.

So if I am reading your message correctly: the E: recovery Disk being full should be no problem for my laptop performence etc. and I could just let the files in the E: drive stay there?
