On my HP Notebook G6-2197SA/B9P07EA both Shift keys are not working on the inbuilt keyboard.
Product: B9P07EA
Model: G6-2197SA
OS: Windows 10 64-bit 20H2
I believe this relates to invalid keyboard drivers caused by a Windows Update installed on 15th November 2020 as the Device Manager Keyboard events indicate the device migrated on this date and no other events before this date.
Device Manager Keyboard Events Information for the Device Migrated event shows: "Device ACP\HPQ8001\4&4fdbdf6&0 was migrated.".
Looking on Google for HPQ8001 another HP user had a similar device event and sp66562.exe fixed it but I cant find sp66562.exe for download to try.
No HP G6-2197SA Keyboard drivers are available for download from HP from what I can see.
No shift key is obviously driving me nuts!!!
I have tried the following with no luck:
- No physical damage/issue seen with both Shift Keys.
- All other keys work except the 2 Shift keys (tested with HP PC Hardware Diagnostics software).
- Windows Sticky Keys is not enabled, also tried enabling and then disabling.
- Checked and changed keyboard/language settings.
- Uninstalled and reinstalled latest keyboard drivers from Windows.
- Latest Windows updates installed.
- Latest BIOS and BIOS reset to default settings.
- Shutdown, removed battery, pressed power button and replace battery.
- External keyboard and remote keyboards work ok.
- Windows started in safe mode and issue still existed. I guess as keyboard drivers are essential under safe mode.
Any additional help would be grateful.
