I called HP support yesterday to chat about some issues on the laptop. Got disconnected five times and a fellow called back six times. Long story short, he wanted to sell me a protection plan. I refused and soon after I get this message. I checked my phone call logs this morning and could not believe that 3 of the 6 calls came from the number which I'm supposed to call to get help from Microsoft. This obvious is a scam and this guy was not from HP.

Any one hee have a HP phone number that's trustworthy.

If you are in the USA / Canada and you called a number for (presumably) HP without having first created your online HP case to receive contact information -- then, yes, it is a scam.

At this writing (as of now):  In the USA / Canada, HP does not post direct numbers to Support.

If the number is coming in on your mobile phone, add the offending number to your "Reject" (blocked number) list.

If you have blocking service on your land line - block the number.

Hopefully you did not let him onto your computer -- and if you did, consider that at least some of your information is likely compromised.  Complete a deep scan of your system using your very best security software -- and change your passwords.

Thanks Dragon-Fur. Yes I did let the guy(agent George) in my computer and yes I changed Passwords on sensetive sites.

Three calls each. After I refused to buy his protection program he remove himself or so I thought. The mesage on my screen is

YOUR WINDOWS LICENCE IS CORRUPTED. TO FIX THIS ISSUE CONTACT MICROSOFT SUPPORT AT 800 596 8766.

YOUR COMPUTER WILL RESTART WITHIN 10 MINUTES.

You'll notice that this number is the same as one he called me from 3 times. I thought  was talking to HP and though there customer service was top notch. Boy was I wrong.

Before I called, I tried to contact HP online and was filling out a form. One of the questions was asking for the serial number. This bloody computer did not have a sticker on the back. I now have the serial number so I think I will contac HP Support  and fill out their form.

The site this guy asked me to visit is www.helpme.net which gave him access. an app "gotoassist" was part and I saw the name LOGMEIN INC. I googled Logmein and saw something about fraud. I hope others here on the forum read this.
