My HP AIO will not boot into Windows 10. I keep getting a directive to run a diagnostics test (F2) on my Hard Drive (I have a SSD), but when I do, I receive a warning message stating, “Smart Check: Passed” but also “Short DST: Warning: 2: Not Available.” I only have one HDD, and it is the SSD described above. Can anyone help?

Hi @jmo2020,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I'd be glad to help you!
I’m sorry to hear about the trouble you’re experiencing with your HP All-in-One—it's especially stressful when your computer won't boot and diagnostic messages are unclear. Let’s see if we can get to the bottom of this.
- Have you noticed any performance issues, crashes, or unusual behavior from your computer leading up to this problem?
- Are you able to access the BIOS or a recovery environment to check the drive’s status or attempt repairs?
- Do you have recent backups of your important files, or was the SSD the sole storage for your data?
Let's try these steps.
Check BIOS Settings:
- Restart the computer and press F10 to access the BIOS setup.
- Ensure the SSD is recognized in the Storage or Boot Options menu.
- Verify the correct boot order, with the SSD set as the primary boot device.
Run an Extended Diagnostic Test:
- Use the HP Hardware Diagnostics UEFI tool (accessible via F2) to perform a longer diagnostic test on the SSD.
- Select the Comprehensive Test instead of the Short DST to gather more details about the issue.
Attempt Boot into Windows Recovery:
- Turn off the PC and press F11 during startup to access the Windows Recovery Environment.
- Try Startup Repair or use Command Prompt to run chkdsk /f /r on the SSD to detect and fix errors.
Check for Corruption with External Media:
- Create a Windows 10 installation USB using another computer and boot your HP AIO from it.
- Use the repair tools on the installation media to:
- Run sfc /scannow to check for corrupted system files.
- Attempt a repair installation of Windows.
Evaluate and Replace SSD if Necessary:
- If diagnostics consistently report warnings and recovery options fail, the SSD might be failing.
- Remove the SSD (if you're comfortable) and connect it to another computer via an external enclosure to confirm its functionality.
- If replacement is needed, install a new SSD and use the Windows installation media to reinstall the operating system.
If the problem persists, this could be a hardware issue.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted for further assistance
